People should know there are two broad ways they may use when they intend to fast. You would decide to make your fast absolute or intermittent. People who fast absolutely abstain from all forms of foods for the rest of the day or even a week. Those who fast intermittently just change their eating patterns. This may include the time they eat and the type of meals they take at particular times.

The glucose breakdown process in the body is higher during this exercise and it boosts energy production. Moreover, the rate of insulin secretion during this activity is reduced. The pancreas is not very active during this process and the blood sugar lowers instead.

Your body has fat stores where most of the fats are stored in the tissues. The fat comes from the food that you eat daily especially the carbohydrates and fats. Within the period that you abstain from food, your body uses the present glucose and begins to look for alternative way of energy production. One of such ways would be ketosis where the available fats are broken down to produce energy.

You would also realize that you begin to crave for healthier meals during fasting. This would bring transforming eating habits that would eventually keep you healthy all through. You would find it easy to crave for nutritious foods such as fruits and natural fruit juices. To some people, the exercise prevents them from feeding on junks and sugary substances.

Finally, it is important to note that the activity is good in boosting your immunity. Many people may ask how abstinence from food and immunity would correlate. Nevertheless, it is important to know that fasting eliminates excess fats and toxins that would interfere with the competence of your immunity. Moreover, the exercise would motivate you to take vitamins E and A that are good antioxidants.
