Posture has been described as the position of the spine in relation to the other bodily components including the head, neck, and limbs. When faulty posture is engaged it causes the abnormal positioning of the spinal column and compression of interconnected nerves, muscles, and tissues. Discomfort, pain, tingling, and similar symptoms can debilitate regular operation and requires corrective procedure applied with Gresham chiropractic.

The correct alignment of the spine includes balance of all structures. It will not cause undue stress and allows one to engage in full range of motion and flexibility. Whether sitting or standing, the systems remain fully balanced and the joints will not place pressure on bone and tissue operation.

The incorrect posture is largely responsible for placing large amounts of strain on joint operation. When muscles are strengthened and toned, it can minimize the impact of improper alignment on the joints, but weak tissues can cause serious problems. For the correct postural position, a complete physical examination must be performed to determine spinal balance and overall mobility. Bodily mechanics will be assessed and all patients offered comprehensive advice when it comes to correct means of sitting, standing, and sleeping. Structured exercise programs will be developed to minimize strained and improper muscle function.

Where the lumbar region and the knees are under strain, it may be corrected by wearing foot orthotics for balance. The process involved in straightening a curved spine will involve a back brace that is comfortable and discrete. Improving patient awareness and understanding of bodily mechanics can relieve joint pressure and prevent against dysfunction.
