By Vito La Fata

Lots of people have a hard time losing weight but are not really sure what to do about it. In fact, it is a very normal problem to have. The good news is that there are some things that you can do to help yourself. One of those things is to try to figure out the reasons why your body does not want to lose weight.

Did you know that dealing with modern type stresses such as being unable to pay your mortgage can cause your body to release the same kind of chemicals that are released when you are in danger of starving to death or freezing to death? What this does is to tell your body that you need to hold onto fat in order to be as safe as possible. If you do not approach weight loss from the inside, you may miss those threats that affect you mentally and emotionally that keep you from losing weight.

For example, you may be experiencing a fear of scarcity. When you have fear that you are not going to have sufficient funds, your body may respond by storing up fat. Your body may perceive that threat as a threat of insufficient food.

Emotional Obesity: At a subconscious level you may have the association that being fat makes you feel safer, or that it is serving another emotional need. In this case your body is simply trying to protect you; it is making you feel safer emotionally.

Yet another threat may be mental. Physical starvation is not the only kind of starvation that there is. You could be starving in an emotional or mental way. Deep down you may be seeking love or joy. This longing could make your body release chemicals that are similar to physical starvation, which may drive you to over eat.

Finally, you may have some beliefs that are dysfunctional. Do you secretly think that you are meant to be fat? If so, you may be sabotaging yourself and keeping yourself from losing weight. Try to change your thinking and you may find that you lose weight!
